THE STORY

RAISED ON CRICKET.

David Lloyd grew up in Wrexham, North Wales, and came through the ranks the hard way - National Counties cricket for Wales, then a professional contract with Glamorgan in 2012, after years in the second XI.

What followed was over a decade at the top of the order in the County Championship. David captained Glamorgan, moved to Derbyshire, captained them too, and in September 2022 produced one of the most remarkable innings Welsh cricket has ever seen - 313 not out, the highest score ever made by a Glamorgan captain.

In 2021, he was selected for Welsh Fire in the inaugural season of The Hundred, playing alongside some of the biggest names in world cricket at Sophia Gardens.

David retired from professional cricket in September 2025. Not to slow down, but to put everything he learned into something new. He is now General Manager of The Sports Warehouse in North Wales and coaching the next generation of cricketers.

Every player I work with is different. Finding what makes them tick and helping them improve is the best part of the job.
— David Lloyd
